Matt is a former collegiate football player who has spent nearly his entire professional life dedicated to understanding and treating human movement to optimize an individual’s capacity for performance and pain-free lifestyle. After graduating from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2012, he has spent the last 9 years treating people in and around the Kearney Area.
His diversified background includes being a former certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA and even though he never sat for the ATC exam, valuable time in the treatment and examination of athletes as a student athletic trainer at Doane College. As a physical therapist he has studied and learned from numerous professionals through continuing education seminars and courses in the prehabilitative and rehabilitative world including individuals like Mike Reinhold, Dan Lorenz, Eric Cressey, Gray Cook, and Kevin Wilke among many others. Matt also holds an adjunct faculty position with the University of Nebraska Medical Center Physical Therapy program as a lab instructor for current physical therapy students. He also spent 2 years with the REN Institute of Massage Therapy as an Anatomy and Kinesiology instructor. One of his career highlights also includes being published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT) in 2018.
Matt’s passion and goals remain helping people of all ages, abilities, and lifestyles. He is a firm believer in taking a proactive approach versus a reactive approach when it comes to working with patients and clients.
Matt and his wife, Amy (Gillespie), also own Just For Ladies Fitness. Amy also remains a CPA with Contryman Associates. They have three kids: Peyton, Maddox, and Hudson.
